hey everyone:)

I think itโ€™s been about 2 weeks since I updated, and man, these 2 weeks have held more that I expected!

My squad and I are in the mountains of Comayagua, Honduras. Our time has been filled with ups and downs, rainy nights and muddy tents, house visits and all day classes, digging in a ditch and sanding the building, exploring the city and greeting old friends.

So much has happened, yet as I live through it, everything feels still. Iโ€™ve noticed that everywhere I go feels completely normal - whether in my tent on a mountain, or a packed room with 25 girls, or my own room in GA, or on the beach of South Africa.

I feel steady each place I go, but maybe a little mundane this time around. I think the Lord is inviting me into a renewed awe - that everything would be seen as in the eyes of a child rather than in mundanity - everyday.

my squad

My squad is doing well - theyโ€™re adjusting and have hopped right into life here in Honduras. They work hard and speak life as they go. Itโ€™s beautiful to see the strengths and gifts each person holds and therefore the beauty of the Body of Christ.

I have six girls on my little team within the squad - Claire, Julianna, Samantha, Natalie, Heidi, and Vung. I love these girls๐Ÿซถ

Team time ( intentional time spent with just the 7 of us ) is something looked forward to everyday, and we almost never have as long as weโ€™d like. My girls are encouraging and silly. They enjoy each otherโ€™s presence and we feel the Lord speaking radiance over us as a team. Just like Mosesโ€™ face shined radiantly after being in the Lordโ€™s presence, so we are to shine His joy like a flowing river into the lives of those around us. Itโ€™s all about His presence!!

Since we feel the Lord inviting us into these things, our team name is Nahar. This is the Hebrew word for radiance that flows like a river. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

testimony time

Iโ€™m pretty blown away.

Do you remember Miss Paty?

Once upon a time, just a couple of months ago, my last squad and I met a woman named Paty in the local chocolate factory. Miss Paty is deaf and often feels sick, mistreated, and alone. She is very poor but is continually reminded of how good God is.

We learned all of these things in April, but I had the opportunity once again to hear about her life. This past Monday, she walked into the restaurant that my leadership team was sitting in and immediately ran over to give me the biggest bear hug. She pulled out a chair and sat down with us. We started chatting and she cried and laughed and felt seen. The Lord really showed Himself in this. I got to translate her sign language to English and her sign language to Spanish and Spanish to English and English and Spanish to sign language. It was wild the flow of communication the Lord invitedย  me to partner in.

She sat with us for a few hours, and we got to listen intentionally and also speak life into her. Towards the end of our time together, she shared that she practices the Jehovahโ€™s Witness faith.

With that I was a little stunned and wanted even more for her to know the truth. She had been telling us of how she trusts the Lord but also we could feel a lot of hurt within her.

Praise God - I got to share the Gospel with her in sign language. We got to share our faith with her and encourage her in the fact that He is all she needs.

After that, she invited us to walk with her as she wanted to show us a painting in town. We followed and she just kept walking.ย  Eventually we made it to the mural she was talking about, and she shared how those demonic beings tormented her in her sleep. We listened and then prayed over her, that the Lord would reveal Himself as truth and show her Himself as her protector, healer, provider, and daily bread.

Before walking away, she squeezed me even tighter than the first time and couldnโ€™t help but say of how grateful she was that God would give her new friends who care for her.

Iโ€™m completely astonished that the Lord would bring this woman back into my life. I literally woke up that day thinking about her, and then there she was - a few hours later, sitting with us in a pupusaria.

God is so faithful!!

a little more

Iโ€™ve realized once again what a pressure cooker the World Race is. How looking back, I now see all the things the Lord has been doing and the lessons Heโ€™s been teaching these last couple of weeks. Heโ€™s been ironing out many wrinkles I didnโ€™t realize I was wearing.

He is faithful. He is my daily bread. He is the saturation that leads to overflow. True freedom is dependence. Iโ€™m content in relying on Him.

For me, this is a season of lifting up rather than laying down. The Lord has brought me back to a place of realizing and counting the cost, even as I sit with Him. There are people that I miss and things I thought I was laying down before Him. Now, I see that Heโ€™s actually not asking me to lay those things down. He just wants me to lift them up in intercession. What an honor this is! Sometimes I feel that I need Him to hold my arms in place as I lift up these grateful and hurting prayers. And He does, every time.

Iโ€™ve been really hungry recently. Spiritually hungry, that is. Hungry for my daily bread. Longing for my prayer closet that happens to be my tent. Breakthrough happens there and my time here has been defined by this.

To him who is faithful with little, much will be given.

Iโ€™m so grateful to be here in this place, for these people, at this time.

Itโ€™s crazy and exciting and still unique to be back on the farm in Honduras. The Lord is being faithful to bring newness while also staying consistent.

As Iโ€™m writing this, Iโ€™m sitting in my puddle of a tent and listening to โ€œthis is eternal lifeโ€ in my earbuds as I hear the blasting music coming from the kitchen. My eyes are trying to shut after a long day of work and celebration.

Itโ€™s time to sleep now, and Iโ€™m thanking God for answering the prayer I prayed this morning. I asked Him to make my heart tender today, and throughout the day, each time I thought of His presence or His face or His kindness or His people, I couldnโ€™t help but shed a few tears. He is so here, and He has been so good to me.
