Hey everyone:)

I just wanted to check in–say hi–give an update–share what i’m learning–all of the above. But don’t worry, I won’t make this too long 😉

To start, I should mention that in just 22 days I’ll be knee deep in the promises the Lord has spoken over me. I’ll be surrounded by the most amazing community, living in my ‘lil orange tent, showering with a bucket, worshiping till my face hits the floor, potentially eating bugs, and learning what surrender truly looks like–taking up my Cross daily.

As you read that, there were probably quite a few thoughts running through your head. Totally understandable.

There have been a number of thoughts swirling through my mind as well. If I’m feeling excited, or if nervousness tries to creep in, Jesus keeps reminding me of the “why.” Why am I doing this? Why do I WANT to do this?

The answer? Only Jesus. These two words have been the ones I’m led back to over, and over, and over again, multiple times a day. These words really explain it all. They give purpose to every situation, calm every storm, and penetrate every heart.

Only Jesus leads us.
Only Jesus prepares us.
Only Jesus fills our hearts with fire.
Only Jesus builds our relationships.
Only Jesus heals our wounds.
Only Jesus sets us free.
Only Jesus walks us in confidence.
Only Jesus leads us in excitement.
Only Jesus is our calm.
Only Jesus wants us to KNOW Him.
Only Jesus teaches us who He really is.
Only Jesus shows us His face and what He has for us.
Only Jesus saves our souls.
only Jesus helps us to love well.
Only Jesus calls us to obey.

There were a lot of examples in that list, but every one of them is true. He is calling us all to obedience. To love Him well by loving His people well. We are called to know Him and to go so much deeper, everyday. This is the desire He’s put on my life and the whole reason I am stepping out in faith.

I want to obey, know Him deeper, see His face, surrender to all He has for me, and love His people radically.

As I near the coming date, my heart is full with gratitude. I’ve had the opportunity to continually chat with my teammates and build strong connections, even before we step foot into training camp–what a blessing!

In this season, Jesus is giving me practice loving people well AND the space to go deeper with Him.
What a trying season I’m in. I have no complaints, though. This preparation season has been one worth living. One that’s been slightly painful, but so very rewarding. I’m encouraged by the lessons He’s teaching me, and I’m thrilled to be able to live the “only Jesus” kind of life.

ALSO, I just hit FULLY funded. PRAISE GOD!! How did this happen?

I don’t even have the words to explain what this means to me. I am beyond grateful and completely in awe. Ya’ll are so generous and God is so good!! His Heavenly bank account never runs out😉 All I can say is “Only Jesus…”

As always, I’m honored that y’all are joining this journey with me, and I’m praying blessings over every person who’s reading this.

I would also definitely appreciate prayers of contentment and provision for me and my teammates, as we navigate this in-between season 🙂

Thanks so much, everyone 🙂

Much love,

~Rissa

  2. It is so amazing to watch this all unfold- your whole life, really. What a blessing it has been, and will continue to be, your mom 💕
